The Team is hard at work making Robotics a bigger part of our community.  We are working at local, state and federal levels to grow awareness. We are also working with students in grade school and middle school to increase the number students in the coming into Walt Whitman with robotics experience.  Here are some details on what the team is up to.

Student Out Reach

  • Educating Grade School Students
    • Hosting STEM day camps
    • Mentoring FLL teams
    • Judging FLL events

    • Hosting Open Lectures on technical topics open to any FRC team

Advocacy

  • Educating Montgomery County Leaders
    • We are working with the County Council to fund the 2016 FRC district event in Montgomery County
    • We are working with the County Council to fund the 2017 FRC, FTC and FLL registration fees for Montgomery County teams
    • We are working with the County School Board to reduce robotic team costs
    • We are working with the County School Board to declare robotics a sport
  • Educating Maryland Leaders
    • We are working with state politicians to fund the 2017 FRC, FTC and FLL registration fees for Maryland teams
    • We are working with state politicians and school board representatives to declare robotics a sport
  • Educating National Leaders
    • We are working with national leader to add amendments to the education authorization bill giving states the ability to spend federal education dollars on after school mentor based stem programs at title II schools
    • To grow awareness of the scale of robotics in the country

Awareness

  • Participating in STEM and out reach activities in the community
  • Bringing new sponsors to robotics
  • Hosting open clubs night for the community
  • Doing Demos at various community events
