FRC teams have a starting price tag of $9,000 per year. Unfortunately, it is hard to be competitive in FRC at that price, so we recommend teams aim for a minimum budget of $25,000 per year.  Here is where the money goes;

Expenses – $25,000

  • Registrations – $11,000
    • 2 season events x $5,000
    • 3 off season events x $300
  • Robot – $8,000
    • Teams are limited to $3,500 dollars per robot with no individual part costing more than $400. However, we have found team’s need materials for prototyping, building field pieces, building pits, building battery carts and other robot related expenses.
  • Team food – $2,000
    • Teams are going to work long hours, raising funds to keep students fed with keep the students and the team happier.
  • Tools – $2,000
    • Each year tools break and wear out, make sure to keep funds available for purchasing new tools and new safety glasses.
  • Miscellaneous – $2,000

If the team happens to earn a chance to go to nationals they annual budget could nearly double depending on the number of students they plan on taking to nationals.

Additional Expenses – $30,100

  • Registrations – $5,000
    • World Champs $5,000
  • Robot crate– $800
    • Teams will need to build a create to ship their robot if they do not already have one.
  • Travel – $9,000
    • Private coach for 5 days $9,000
      • $200 per person
  • Travel – $7,200
    • 12 rooms for 4 nights $7,200
      • $160 per person
  • Food – $8,100
    • $180 per person x 45

To pay for this budget we recommend doing a lot of fund raising.  Here is one way to take care of the bills we identified above.

Revenue – $25,000

  • Student fees – $16,000
  • Grants – $2,000
  • Monetary Donations – $5,000
  • In Kind Donations – $2,000
  • Fund Raisers – $2,000
